Since it feels like time to update the journal, here's part of a meme I answered over @ Livejournal, explaining my attitude towards photography:
I think that what perhaps most defines me as a photographer is that I started out with a complete focus on drawing and, to a lesser extent, painting. To me, photography is not primarily a means to documenting the world as it is, but instead just another way of creating pretty/scary/interesting/whatever pictures. That's why I'm as far from a photography purist as you can get. I gladly apply massive amounts of photoshopping to photos, if that makes them look more like what I picture in my head. In a sense, photography is a way of painting for me. It's a 'quick' way of getting the basic shapes down, but then comes the painting/editing.
I'm also not particularly good at photography. (For one thing, I personally thought 'Vampish' was the best I'd managed so far. Other people seem to think it sucks though. And no, that wasn't meant as a pun.) But I am trying to improve. I want to focus on mastering landscape/nature photography now, but I've had to stay close to home this summer and so haven't been able to practice much yet. *pouts*
You know, I am SO jealous of all those photographers on DeviantArt who have nice, symmetrical features and just in general look hot and photogenic! They're like... born with the perfect model, available at all hours of the day! So unfair! *pouts* On the other hand, I do get a lot of photoshopping practice.

Make sure to put the club somewhere in your journal, signature or deviant ID. You can do this by typing :icondeathnotefan: or :devdeathnotefan:.
Please send a Note to the club if you would like to submit any of your Death Note fanart!
1) Only 1 deviation every 5 days
2) Send a note to the club entitled "Art Submission"
3) No deviations that would violate DevArt's policies
4) State in your artist comment that you give our club permission your art. (Read more about the Submission Policy in our deviant ID on our main page. =DeathNotefan )
5) Please don't fave club uploads - the club only uploads a COPY and the link to the original work for faving/commenting is in the description. If a title says NO FAVE at the beginning, or if we've submitted it, please don't fave it.
We look forward to your artwork!
Enjoy the club!
It's the journal on my front page at the moment.
Good stuff!!
